Make no mistake about it folks, my Party (the Republican Party) has been hijacked by right-wing talk radio. I have a serious question: Who died and made talk radio the voice of the Republican Party? You might think that I’m in favor of bringing back the Fairness Doctrine; you’d be wrong.
No, what we need to do is see talk radio for what it really is; shows like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham and others, are nothing more than infomercials. Not infomercials to sell Republican ideas, or even Conservative ideas - it’s a medium to sell the host’s ideas. Today’s Republican Party needs to make it clear that these talking heads do not speak for the Party. The solution is simple - preface each show with the following pre-recorded message:
“The views and opinions expressed on this show do not necessarily represent those of the Republican Party.”
So simple, even a Caveman can do it.
Now I’m not for Obama either, but these guys are waaaaaaaaaay over the top. It scares the hell out of me that these people (and others like them) will find themselves in a voting booth November 4th: http://www.break.com/index/redneck-woman-rails-on-obama.html
Bill,
Why can’t Rush, Sean, Laura, Mark, and others, be more like you? You know, fair and balanced. As a Conservative myself, I appreciate your willingness to explore all sides of the issues.
It was just a matter of time. According to Newsweek, here’s why he did it.
Hillary Clinton leaves her fans scratching their heads.
"John" followed by "McCain." No two words used together evokes more criticism from Conservatives. Why? Some say, he’s not just "not conservative enough," he’s not even a Conservative. An 82.3% rating from The American Conservative Union is not enough? Just for the record, I consider myself a Conservative, and from what I’ve seen, John McCain seems to be a pretty straight shooter. True, he has let me down on some issues, but unlike others in my Party, I’m not willing to toss him overboard for those indiscretions. Admittedly, I am biased - I give more weight to his military service, and his strong National Security credentials. Unless you’ve been in the military, you’ll have a hard time understanding this. I know of no other candidate in the race that can match him in the National Security arena. Have a look at these articles from The Weekly Standard. Enemies to the Right of Him. | No Substitute for Virtue.
Love him, or hate him, he is a man of conviction and principle. Wait, isn’t that what we want in our candidate?
The Spin:"My American Health Choices Plan covers all Americans and improves health care by lowering costs and improving quality. It speaks to American values, American families, and American jobs." — Hillary Clinton
Translation: "The big evil insurance companies have made far too much profit for far too long. I will crush them." — Hillary "Profit is Bad" Clinton.
The Spin:"Today I have withdrawn my candidacy for President of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort. Jeri and I will always be grateful for the encouragement and friendship of so many wonderful people." — Fred Thompson
Translation: "Look, let’s be honest here, John McCain was kicking my ass. It’s obvious that he is the better choice, not only for the Republican Party, but for President as well. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a plane to catch. Audios suckers." — Fred "Yawn" Thompson
The New England Patriots and the New York Giants will be playing in this year’s Super Bowl. As one who makes his home below the Mason-Dixon line, I just couldn’t resist poking a little fun at the Northerners by coming up with the perfect (some would say, obvious) tag-line: Fugetaboutit.
Well, I guess you have to blame someone Mike. Hey, here’s an idea, how about assuming some personal responsibility for your loss, you know, instead of sounding like a Liberal and blaming someone else. Just a thought.
